Welcome to the June edition of the Opkey Op-Date, our periodic newsletter with the latest industry news, events we're attending, and advice to help you succeed in ERP!
ERPs do a lot, but they tend to cost a lot, too. A huge chunk of IT budgets is wrapped up in ERPs. And, if you’re gearing up for a new one, you know the cost projections for implementation can make even the strongest stomachs turn.
With economic headwinds, the name of the game in IT is “do more with less.” To learn more about how to make that happen, we’re providing some resources, some current news that piqued our interest, and some conferences where you can catch our team in the next few months!
Through its recent migration, Ulta streamlined its supply chain and inventory processes, resulting in a significant reduction in manual workflows. This transformation is just one example of how important aligning technology upgrades with broader business objectives can be. Comprehensive testing and validation help organizations avoid disruptions and realize the full benefits of their ERP investment.
ERP transformations often fail because of the hidden complexity within legacy systems. Outdated customizations and years of accumulated technical “debt” can derail modernization efforts. By 2027, 70% of ERP transformation failures will stem from this complexity. By identifying and managing technical debt, organizations can pave the way for successful ERP transformations and sustained operational excellence.
Opkey is transforming ERP systems with advanced automation, enabling businesses to streamline previously complex, manual processes. By automating testing, monitoring, and compliance tasks, we are helping organizations accelerate deployment, reduce errors, and ensure regulatory adherence.

Tips & Advice
Are you really testing Workday Enough?
Here’s the kicker: the worst answer isn’t “no.” No is actually a pretty good start, because it means you know. And in my experience, most orgs don’t have visibility into the scope of their needs to even answer with certainty. Many use manual, spending weeks or months building test plans and crossing their fingers that everything is covered.
It’s my mission to take Workday customers from the perilous “I don’t know”, to “No, I’m not testing enough”, to “Yes! I’ve got it covered!”.
To get there, we have some basic suggestions. First, work with your testing partner to connect directly to Workday tenants. A well-built solution will use that direct connection to scan live configurations, and generate a comprehensive test plan tailored to each setup. Second, it’s best to work with real scenarios and actual config values (locations, job families, time types), so you’re sure of accuracy and confident of the utility of testing results.
